  • Casino Hold'em Poker

    Poker

    A Texas hold'em-based table game in which the bettor plays against the dealer. The player must ante, and can only bet double the ante after seeing their hand.

  • Unit (Betting Units)

    Casino

    The value of one chip in games such as roulette.

  • Low Level

    Slots

    A slot machine with a seat for the player.

  • Unlimited Poker

    Poker

    A player can bet or raise any amount up to what they have in their stack.

  • Square Bet

    Roulette

    A bet on four numbers, which pays 8 to 1. Also called a corner bet, as the bet is placed on the corner where the numbers touch.

    Synonym: Quarter Bet, Corner Bet

  • Betting Limits

    Casino

    The minimum and maximum amount of a single player bet (though a player can often play on more than one spot). This varies from table to table at the casino's discretion.

  • Card Counting

    Blackjack

    Tracking the composition of the remaining cards in the deck (usually high vs low cards) in order to adjust one's playing strategy. A competent card counter has a long-term advantage over the house.

  • Sequence

    Poker

    Cards of consecutive rank. E.g. 987.

  • Up Card (Upcard)

    Blackjack

    The dealer's first face-up (exposed) card. In Basic Strategy, this determines how a player should act on their own hand.

  • Natural

    BlackjackCraps

    1) In blackjack, a hand totaling 21 using the first two cards dealt;

    2) In bacarrat, a total of 9 (natural 9) or 8 (natural 8) with two cards;

    3) In craps, a roll of 7 or 11 on the come-out roll.
