Casino Glossary

• Perfect Pairs

  Blackjack

  A side bet that is won when a player's first two cards are a pair. Various payouts are offered, the highest being when they are a perfect pair, i.e. the same card in a multi-deck game.

• Pick ‘em Poker Video Poker

  Video Poker

  A simple version of video poker in which the player is dealt two cards, then gets to choose which of two cards to keep as their third card, and is dealt two more. Wins with a pair of 9s or better.

• Pill

  Roulette

  Another name for the roulette ball.

  Synonym: Ball

• Pip

  Casino

  Spots on a card, the number of them being the value of the card.

• Pit

  Casino

  An area containing a group of table games. Larger casinos have multiple pits.

• Pit Boss

  Casino

  A supervisor in charge of a pit. Also known as a pit manager.

• Place Bet

  Craps

  A bet on 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10. It pays each time that number is rolled, and is lost when a 7 is rolled. A player should "buy" the 4 or 10 instead for a better payout.

• Place Numbers

  Craps

  The numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10.

• Play Bonus

  Casino Game

  a bonus that is offered by a casino for playing purposes only and which cannot be withdrawn from the player's account.

  Synonym: Sticky Bonus, Non-cashable Bonus

  Antonym: Cashable Bonus
