  • Multiple Decks

    Some card games are played with more than one deck. In blackjack, the more decks there are, the higher the house advantage.

  • Hold’em

    Poker

    A popular poker variant in which each player makes a hand from their two down cards and five community cards that anyone can use.

    Synonym: Texas Holdem

  • Copy

    Poker

    In pai gow, a tie, most often on the two-card hand, rarely on the five-card hand. The banker wins ties.

  • Double Odds Bet

    Craps

    An additional bet of twice the pass line or come bets. Casinos rarely, if ever, now offer double odds. They give higher odds, up to 100x, to their players' advantage.

  • Pocket Cards

    Poker

    The cards dealt face down to the player.

  • One Roll Bets

    Craps

    A bet that wins or loses on the next roll.

  • Tens or Better VP (10+)

    Video Poker

    A video poker game in which the player must have at least a pair of 10s to win. Similar to Jacks or better.

  • Steam

    Casino

    A player who is angry, especially in poker, and lets their emotions affect their play is said to "steam", or more commonly "is steaming".

  • Jacks or Better

    Video Poker

    A video poker game in which the player must have at least a pair of jacks to win.

  • Betting Wrong

    Craps

    Placing don't pass line and/or don't come bets; sometimes resented by pass line bettors. Also called playing the "dark side".
