Online Gambler is Convicted in Germany

A player was convicted by the Munich court for playing Blackjack with an unauthorized online gambling site. The man was charged with "participating in unlawful gaming" under section 285 of Germany's Criminal Code.  

The player won over 200K EUR playing Blackjack with an unnamed gambling site and withdraw his winnings in 5 transactions into his personal bank account in Germany. This activity attracted attention of the law enforcement agency. According to the court ruling, the player had to forfeit his winnings and pay a fine. This is the first case, in which a German players is successfully prosecuted for such an offense.
